Up for sale, a circa 1946 Fender Organ Button Model lap steel in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. One of the first instruments to bear the Fender name, this particular model was introduced shortly after Leo Fender established his namesake company, serving as the brand’s top-of-the-line lap steel for just a few short years. A unique piece of history, this rare iteration features a mahogany body, string-through single coil pickup, chrome headstock overlay, chrome playing surface with Roman numeral position markers, and an “organ button” on the control plate.

The original string-through single coil pickup delivers a potent midrange clarity with ample treble cut and sweetness. There’s plenty of high frequency sparkle and definition with the Tone knob rolled up, accompanied by a hint of harmonically-rich lower midrange growl that is often associated with the string-through design. Additionally, the mechanical “organ button” functions as a tone filter, rolling off the treble to create a muted, organ-like sound when pressed. This Organ Button Model has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 16-58 strings.
