Up for sale, a Suhr Badger 18 V2 head and 1x12” cabinet in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch and slip covers. Designed to deliver a “vast array of classic British tones,” the Suhr Badger is widely considered to be a modern classic for studio and home usage, combining a hand-built, all-tube design with modern power-scaling technology; this newer iteration of the Badger platform delivers the same rich tonalities as the original with a more elegant, refined form factor.
Other new features for the V2 include a preamp section with footswitchable high-voltage cascaded MOSFET Boost, updated power scaling, speaker Output Impedance selector (4, 8, and 16 ohms), Standby switch, and 100% all-tube series FX loop. The MOSFET Boost is a notably player-friendly inclusion, offering a broader range of cleaner and overdriven tones with increased dynamic range, transparency and tactile responsiveness. The Badger 18 features a single-channel cathode-biased design, powered by a quad of EL84 power tubes, with two cascading gain stages simultaneously driving the input stage and governed by the Gain knob. The Bass, Middle, and Treble controls are post-gain and passive-cut style. The sonic options on tap are plentiful, with exquisite tube saturation and touch-sensitive dynamic responsiveness at all volume levels.
Suhr's Power Scaling emulates the tonal response of a high wattage amp at manageable volumes. The "Power" knob controls the voltage that feeds the output section and in turn, the wattage. Lowering the voltage of the power section reduces the amount of signal the amp can handle before clipping the output section. To compensate, the Badger's “Drive” control allows the player to scale down to 1 watt without losing tone & feel.
The tube complement includes a matched pair of ARS EL-84 power tubes, a Sovtek 5Y3GT rectifier, and a matched trio of ARS 12AX7s in the preamp. The speaker cabinet is a closed back, front ported design, loaded with the factory Warehouse Veteran 30 ceramic magnet 12" driver, a 60 watt speaker well-suited to the sonic characteristics of the Badger head.
The Badger’s updated cosmetics include a solid aluminum bead-blasted script Suhr logo, textured Graphite tolex, and a black anodized aluminum control panel.
The Boost footswitch is included, along with the Suhr-branded slip covers.
