This exceedingly flexible Strymon offering can maximize the tone and feel of any amp of any quality, delivering true studio quality analog compression with two distinct voices for smooth transparency or vintage squeeze. The Boost switch can add clean boost or soft-clipped dirty boost, with a sculptable EQ curve, and the ability to mix in Dry signal allows for natural-feeling attack even with extreme compression settings.

The user-friendly control configuration includes independent footswitches and knobs for the Boost and Compression sides of the pedal, with Dry and Level knobs for the Compression circuit as well and a Dirty/Clean mini-toggle for the Boost. Further flexibility comes from the Mode toggles: the Boost EQ can be toggled between Treble, Mid, and Flat, and the Compression can be toggled between Studio (modern transparent) and Squeeze (vintage style).

The Compadre features a high impedance, ultra-low noise Class A JFET preamp input circuit, with a low impedance mono output for maximum transparency. The Output VCA allows the Compadre to function as a volume pedal when a TRS expression pedal is plugged into the dedicated Volume jack, and this pedal is compatible with Strymon’s proprietary MiniSwitch for remote selection of a favorite preset and MultiSwitch Plus for remote selection of three presets.
