Exceedingly rare in any condition and manufactured in Decatur, Illinois, this Celeste has been well-kept over the decades, with level keys, consistent action, and a smooth, chiming sound that's utterly unique.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis three octave table top iteration of Jenco's Celeste is a portable, studio-friendly secret weapon. An idiophone by definition, the Celeste features a set of graduated tuned metal bars similar to a glockenspiel. When a key is struck, a hammer makes contact with the metal bar, and the sound is amplified by the resonator tube above the note. The result is the instantly recognizable iconic sound heard on Buddy Holly's Everyday and the Velvet Underground's Sunday Morning.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe instrument has surprising volume, and benefitting from limited use and being serviced in its lifetime, the keys engage smoothly with key bushings that allow for a responsive action. By its nature, the action is slightly more deliberate than a Wurlitzer or Rhodes, yet this Celeste is very easy to play and among the nicest examples we've ever encountered. This Celeste will be the jewel of any studio keyboard collection, with some requisite scuffs and light edge wear. There is surface patina on the latches and hinges, while the aluminum rails are very bright with only a bit of light scuffing.
