Up for sale, a Catalinbread Epoch Boost Preamp/Buffer pedal in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Designed to recreate the preamp tone of the iconic Maestro Echoplex EP-3 tape echo (sans the echo), the Epoch Boost is referred to as a “mastering pedal” by Catalinbread, because it sounds like your base tone, but sculpted to perfection by a mastering engineer.
The internal circuitry is the same as an EP-3, from the NOS Orange Drop capacitors to the output mixer stage that acts as a rudimentary frequency selector. At 22 vols, the pedal offers excellent headroom and clarity, and there’s a switchable hi-Z internal input buffer for the player who wants the Epoch Boost to be an “always-on" pedal. The Boost control offers up to 20dB of crystal-clear boost, with just the EP-3 tone when it’s rolled off.
The rugged enclosure has raised/textured graphics and there are only a scant few marks on the pedal.
