Up for sale, a 2022 Fender Traditional 60s Jaguar in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. An FSR (Factory Special Run) example with a Sonic Blue gloss finish and matching peghead, this discontinued iteration of the Traditional 60s Jaguar platform was made for a single dealer in Japan in extremely small quantities. Other features pertinent to this particular variant on the Traditional platform include an alder body, medium jumbo fretwire, a bound rosewood fretboard with vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, and a Mustang-style bridge with barrel saddles. The current Traditional series Fender Japan models are designed exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, rarely seen outside their country of origin.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jaguar platform, the new Traditional 60s model features Fender's V-Mod pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, and these gray bobbin single coils have a hotter wind with a flat pole piece design, offering more midrange emphasis. The pickups still dish out plenty of twang and snap in the top end, with a slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart and a balanced, sweet sound with great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds.
This guitar weighs 8lbs 8oz, with a warm and clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag is dialed in with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a substantial U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges for added comfort, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire on the 24" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The fretboard radius measures 7 1/4", and the bone nut has a 1 9/16" (40mm) width. The matching Sonic Blue headstock is fitted with Gotoh-made Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
The electronics include individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is smooth and responsive, actuating easily for surfy warbles and dives, working in concert with the Mustang-style bridge with barrel saddles. The chrome-plated hardware and plastic parts are notably clean. The body has barely a scratch on it, and the neck profile is flawless.
