Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in mint condition, complete with the COA, all factory paperwork and case candy, and the original G&G Deluxe hardshell case. This Strat faithfully replicates the feel, appearance, and tone of Fender’s Pre-CBS golden age with a custom color Aged Olympic White nitro lacquer finish.
A limited run Custom Shop model that reproduces all the hallmarks of the first "slab board" Stratocasters, this '60 model features a two-piece alder body paired with a quartersawn maple neck capped with a AAA rosewood slab fingerboard. A couple player-friendly modern tweaks include a 9 1/2" radius fingerboard and 6100 jumbo fretwire that has appreciably more crown and meat than vintage fretwire.
The guitar has a bright and lively natural acoustic response that's channeled faithfully via the trio of Fender's Custom Shop Texas Special single coils. Featuring black fiber flatwork, push-back cloth wire, and staggered hand-beveled Alnico V magnets, the Texas Specials offer plenty of traditional Strat cut and sparkle, overwound just enough for additional midrange emphasis, output and bite, particularly in the bridge position. The sound is broad and bell-like at the neck, and the middle pickup is RWRP for hum-cancelling quack and scooped jangle in the 2 and 4 positions. The guitar weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
