Up for sale, a 2019 Rola Amplifiers Lead 100 amplifier head and 2x12” cabinet in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a custom flight case. Rola Amps are made in Seattle, WA, individually hand-wired to exacting specifications; the Lead 100 (now called the Lead Custom) is their flagship amp, used by artists including Rick Beato and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready. This Lead 100 was owned by Heart touring band member Ryan Waters, and used during Heart’s 2019 Love Alive tour, complete with Heart-stenciled flight case and all markings on the case and cabinet from that touring cycle.

The Lead 100 is an exceedingly versatile amp, switchable from 50 to 100 watts and featuring a two-channel design, yielding a wide array of tones from pristine, sweet cleans to mean, dirty distortion tones. Each channel has its own Volume control, enabling instant switching (footswitch compatible, not included) between two different gain levels, and the Pre Master Volume control dials in the gain prior to the LarMar post phase inverter Master Volume. That degree of sculpting control means that this amp can be very easily adjusted for any venue or studio setting, ensuring great tonal consistency and ease of use. Cut, Post MV, and Low, Mid, and High EQ knobs round out the control configuration.

The circuit features Mercury Magnetics transformers, and the tube complement comprises a matched quartet of JJ KT88 tubes, with three 12AX7/ECC83 valves in the preamp. The output can be toggled between 4, 8, and 16 ohms via the rotary switch on the back of the chassis.

The cabinet is loaded with a matched pair of Celestion G12M-65 Creamback 12” speakers, arguably the definitive old-school Celestion ceramic speaker; developed in the ‘60s and played by names like Clapton, Hendrix, Beck, and Page, Creambacks are wonderfully well-suited to the vintage-inspired tones of the Lead 100, with plenty of low-end power and a warm, vocal midrange.

Cosmetic touches include black tolex, large check grillcloth, knobs that go to 11, metal corners, and a leather handle. The amp is built to last, with 1/4“ stainless steel chassis mounting hardware, and there are just a few faint marks on the amp head and cabinet. The cabinet retains the gaffer tape marks for mic placement from the Heart tour on the large check grillcloth. The interior of the cab is dated to 2019 and initialled by Rola founder/builder Derek Springer.

A slip cover for the head and a custom flight case for the cab are included. The flight case has Heart’s stenciled logo and “Heart - Stage Right” gaffer tape.
