Up for sale, a 2019 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1964 SG Standard in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, COA, and hangtags. A hyper accurate vintage reissue Historic series model, this SG Standard was crafted with vintage-correct construction methods, boasting a notably chunky neck profile, a real Cherry aniline dye lacquer finish, chemically-recreated plastics, and replica electronics including Gibson's venerable Custom Bucker PAFs.

The Custom Bucker PAF pickup pair features Alnico III magnets, and these pickups represent Gibson's most recent and widely celebrated spin on the PAF platform, surgically accurate in the materials used with an impressive tonal response to match. The Custom Buckers deliver just the right amount of punch and power, with glassy clarity, a dynamic, pick-sensitive response and rich harmonic content. Acoustically resonant with great warmth and a wooly, barking midrange character, this SG exemplifies everything we love about Gibson's modern Custom Shop Historic offerings. Weighing 7lbs 4oz, this SG has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has what Gibson's factory literature calls a "medium C" carve, yet the shape is very substantial and chunky, on the verge of “baseball bat” territory with generous shoulders in every register and more heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 12th. The dark rosewood fingerboard features nigh flawless original medium jumbo fretwire which shows just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, playing easily in every register. The scale length is a full 24 3/4", and the nylon nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock features the correct 17 degree angle and holly veneer, with inlaid pearl Gibson logo and Kluson Deluxe single line double ring tuning machines with transparent keystone buttons and push-in bushings.

On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints, Sprague "Black Beauty" capacitors, and flawless PAF stickers on the baseplates of the Custom Buckers. The neck pickup cavity also reveals the hide glue-fitted long tenon neck joint. The nickel hardware has Gibson's VOS treatment with faux patina, while the brighter nickel plating peeks out on areas of the Maestro Vibrola tailpiece. The ABR-1 bridge features nylon saddles, and the Maestro Vibrola has a smooth response, actuating easily for quick trills and deeper warbles.

The Cherry nitro lacquer is extremely clean, and interestingly enough, there are natural "tan lines" slightly below the back edge of the hardware, indicative of an instrument that saw sunlight from above and naturally aged, with the more ruddy shade of Cherry preserved in the shadow of the hardware and plastics. Wear is limited to one small finish chip on the bass-side horn tip, a few light pick scuffs across the pickguard, and a couple faint marks extending towards the knobs. There's barely a scratch on the back, and the neck profile is flawless, with a bit of aniline dye bleed on the cream neck binding, a cosmetic quirk also consistent with vintage examples.

The original Gibson Custom Shop black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original factory paperwork, hangtags, and COA.
