Up for sale, a 2018 Stephen Douglas Design Leona V2 in mint condition, complete with the original box. This rare, hand-wired boutique overdrive is the updated iteration of Douglas’ Leona platform, designed for increased versatility and tweakability. Just like the original Leona, this V2 yields creamy, transparent vintage tube amp-style overdrive with a terrific blend of natural warmth and bite, with tones ranging from subtle dirt to full-on blistering aggression.

The inclusion of a High-Cut control helps round off some of the treble aggression, yielding a notably smooth sound, or dial it up to maintain the sizzle and snarl. There are two mini-toggles to switch between a .1 and .2 capacitor on the input and output. The central three-way mini-toggle selects between a trio of diodes: the standard 1N914 from the Leona V1, true MOSFET clipping, and a Motorola diode sourced from NASA’s vintage stock, simply labeled 56C. The somewhat mysterious latter diode provides fantastic bass response, articulate at even the highest gain settings (indicated on the switch by a small rocket graphic).

There’s barely a mark on the gray hammerite enclosure. The inside of the baseplate is signed by Stephen Douglas and dated 12-18.
