Up for sale, a 2018 Gretsch G6120EC Eddie Cochran signature model in showroom clean, 100% original condition and perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, COA, and all hangtags. Featuring all the unique specifications of rockabilly luminary Eddie Cochran's 1955 Gretsch 6120 (and the successor to Gretsch's G6120W-1957 model), the G6120EC boasts a transparent pickguard, Lindy Fralin dogear P-90 in the neck position, and DynaSonic in the bridge.
With a 16" fully hollow all maple body and parallel tonebar bracing, this Gretsch has an immediate note attack, and a clear, balanced natural acoustic tone, offering equal parts warmth and cut. The P-90 has a dynamic, midrange-forward quality that's particularly driving, pairing well with the crystalline highs and punchy lows of the Dynasonic. The aluminum Bigsby bridge and brass nut further accentuate the treble response and attack, and other '50s-centric Gretsch features include the G brand, western fretboard inlay, and uniquely shaped vintage-spec Bigsby arm. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and featherweight at 7lbs, this Gretsch has been dialed in with 11-49 strings and low action.
The two-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and a bit more roundness and heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 9th. The rosewood fretboard features white binding, red side dot position markers, pearl western block "Cactus, Steer Heads, and Fences" inlay, and perfect slender fretwire. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24.6" scale with a straight neck and responsive truss rod, and the polished brass nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The bound, stained maple headstock boasts a pearl inlaid Gretsch logo, steer head inlay, and Eddie Cochran signature truss rod cover, along with gold Grover Sta-Tite open back tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
The maple body features "Nashville" appointments including the iconic vibrant Western Orange Stain gloss finish, white binding on the oversized F-holes, and traditional Gretsch "G" brand. The hardware includes a translucent plexi pickguard (with clear protective factory film still intact over the plexi), rosewood floating bridge base with compensated lightweight aluminum saddle, and Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece, all of which are like-new. The Bigsby has a quick, fluid response, working in concert with the bridge for expressive dives and warbles. All of the electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and individual Volume knobs for each pickup. Cosmetically, the guitar is clean as can be with barely a scratch on it. It's a stunning example of one of Gretsch's most enduring models, and a classic tribute to one of Gretsch's great torchbearers.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the COA and all hangtags.
