Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Custom Shop NAMM Limited '55 Stratocaster in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case, COA, and all hangtags and case candy.
A stunning limited run Custom Shop model that faithfully replicates all the hallmarks of an early iteration of the Stratocaster platform, this '55 model features a two-piece ash body finished in transparent White Blonde paired with a one piece quartersawn flame maple neck with a deep U-shaped profile carve. Lightweight and lively at 7lbs 7oz, this Strat has a sweet authoritative natural acoustic tone with the midrange complexity of ash and the treble snap of the maple fingerboard. Via the pair of handwound Custom Shop '55 Stratocaster pickups with Alnico III magnets and low G pole pieces, the guitar delivers plenty of sparkle, yet with a tonal depth and richness well beyond most Strats. The bridge pickup has percussive cut and chewy bite, with a clear-sounding middle pickup and a neck position single coil that has a bell-like chime and thickness ideal for lead work. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Strat with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The quartersawn AA flame maple neck has a deep U-shaped neck profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering particularly round shoulders in every register and significant heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .900" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The fretboard has a compound 7.25-9.5" radius with Jescar 50085-size medium fretwire that has flawless crowns. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1.650" in width. The headstock has a "spaghetti" Stratocaster decal and Custom Shop Limited Edition chevron on the back. The Kluson-style single line tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.
The electronics function flawlessly, and plastics include distinctly rounded pickup covers replicating the look of the bakelite covers on the earliest Strats. Both plastics and hardware are flawless save for any faint factory aging, and the flash coat nitro lacquer White Blonde finish highlights the dynamic grain of the two-piece ash body. Cosmetic wear is virtually non-existent beyond the factory Relic treatment which comprises some simulated marks on the body and tight spiderweb lacquer checking, with simulated finger wear on the gloss-finished maple fretboard.
The original tweed hardshell case, COA, and all tags and case candy are included.
