Collings guitars are handcrafted in Austin, TX, with premium components and hand-selected tonewoods. This 290 is their spin on the Les Paul Special platform, featuring a select solid Honduran mahogany body and neck, a pair of Lollar P-90 pickups, ‘50s-style wiring, and a gloss TV Yellow nitro lacquer finish.

The tonewood complement yields a midrange-forward acoustic response with plenty of natural bark and treble cut, qualities faithfully captured by the pair of Lollar P-90 pickups. These pickups deliver glassy clarity, detail, and midrange growl, with an authoritative chewiness at the bridge and a thick punch balanced by sweet trebles at the neck. This 290 Single Cut weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The Lollar P-90 pair is brand new, sourced direct from Lollar to match spec for the Lollars which are a stock option in the 290 model. The gloss TV Yellow nitro lacquer finish is a relatively pale application, and there are just a few tiny dings on the body as a whole. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original Collings Ameritage black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the serialized hangtags, dated May 12, 2017.
