Up for sale, a 2016 Fender Japan Exclusive Classic 60s Jazz Bass in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. A rarely seen model produced right before the advent of the Traditional Series, this "Made in Japan" Jazz Bass features a host of vintage-spec features including USA-made Fender pickups, spiral bridge saddles, and full-size vintage-spec tuner baseplates. The solid alder body offers a clear, balanced tonal platform, and the factory-installed Fender USA pickups offer treble-centric articulation and grind, a rich midrange character, and thick, focused low end. The bass weighs 9lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut with nicely rounded shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .810" at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4" radius with flawless slender fretwire, and the bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and the headstock features chrome tuning machines with large vintage-spec baseplates.
All of the electronics work as intended, the chrome plated hardware is positively gleaming, and the plastics are near mint. The Olympic White gloss is bright and unaged, with just a few tiny nicks on the body as a whole. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for a singular nick central to the carve behind fret 12.
The original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags are included.
