Up for sale, a 2015 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '55 Precision Bass in like-new, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original blonde hardshell case, COA, and hangtags. The lightweight ash body has a very deep and resonant tone, with the top end attack and clarity of a one-piece quartersawn maple neck. Strung with 45-105 groundwound strings, the bass has a smooth, balanced sound via the Custom Shop '55 P-Bass single coil wound specifically for this limited edition reissue. The rich and complex midrange quality of the ash body and string through body construction ensures great fundamental thump and a balanced, articulate tone in every register. Weighing 8lbs 13oz, this P-Bass is easy on the back, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and spot-on intonation.
The quartersawn one-piece maple neck has a full U-shaped profile carve, almost inferring the faintest V, with the shoulders sloping away fractionally from the fretboard edges at the nut, quickly filling out with more heft by the 5th fret and beyond. The profile depth measures .920” at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th, filling the palm comfortably and feeling very substantial with simulated palm wear down to the silky smooth maple on the profile length. The fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, with 20 slender frets that retain their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear. The nut is hand-carved from bone, measuring 1 11/16" in width. The headstock sports all the hallmarks of this early Precision model, with large clover button reverse tuning gears and a smaller Telecaster-style headstock profile. The Fender waterslide decal is mint on the headstock face, and the Custom Shop logo is present on the reverse side.
The simple and straightforward electronics work as they should and are untouched since this bass left the Fender factory. All of the vintage-correct touches are present on this faithful reissue, with knurled metal knobs, a two-saddle bridge, single screw black wooden finger rest, seven-hole parchment pickguard, and original "ashtray" bridge and pickup covers. The body reflects the changes made to the Precision Bass model in '55, with a contoured body that boasts a deep belly cut for greater comfort while playing, in addition to a forearm contour on the face of the bass. The relic'd Blonde gloss nitro lacquer finish is tasteful and authentic in its presentation with faint spiderweb lacquer checking, and there's ostensibly no wear on the bass beyond the factory relic treatment.
The original blonde tolex G&G hardshell case is included, along with the COA , hangtags, and case candy.
