Up for sale, a 2015 Fender American Vintage ‘58 Precision Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, augmented with a Curtis Novak BS-DS BiSonic/Darkstar pickup and a Hipshot KickAss bridge. This short-lived and discontinued model replicates a golden age Precision Bass feature set, with an ash body finished in "flash coat" White Blonde nitro lacquer and paired with a gold anodized aluminum pickguard.

The ash body yields a resonant, round acoustic platform with great note detail and midrange punch. The Curtis Novak BS-DS Darkstar pickup is a faithful recreation of the original; prized for its combination of huge low end power and crisp articulation, the Darkstar design is a particularly hallowed piece of bass kit. This particular Novak iteration is balanced and even-tempered, with a smoothness accentuated by the 45-100 flatwound strings. This American Vintage ‘58 Precision Bass weighs 8lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

Both the body and pickguard were professionally routed to accommodate the Darkstar pickup, and Fender's "flash coat" White Blonde nitro lacquer gloss finish is a re-branding of the "Thin Skin" concept in which the lacquer is sprayed very thinly with no poly base coat, ensuring maximum acoustic resonance. There are a few small finish chips along the belly contour and body perimeter, light finish scratches, and a few small dings along the treble-side body edge. The lacquer finish on the neck profile has been lightly sanded down to the bare wood, silky smooth on the palm with subtle flame figuring in the maple.

A modern Fender black tolex hardshell case is included.
