Up for sale, a 2012 Koll New Rose Custom in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Koll guitars are handcrafted in Portland, Oregon, by master luthier Saul Koll and his team, utilizing only FSC-certified sustainably harvested woods. This is a custom-built one-off iteration of Koll’s New Rose archtop, boasting a slew of unique features including a belly contour, Stetsbar Pro II vibrato, a pickguard-mounted killswitch, and Grover Locking Super Rotoamatic tuners.
The thinline semi-hollow body is crafted from flame maple (maple centerblock), and this New Rose has an exceptionally resonant acoustic response with a chiming treble cut. The pickup pair comprises a PAF-style humbucker in the neck position and a Wide Range-inspired humbucker at the bridge position: the neck humbucker is smooth and broad, with dense harmonics and sweet top end articulation; the bridge humbucker is focused and immediate with a spongy, dynamic low-mid response. The neck pickup can be coil tapped, with the tap wired to one of the knobs so the second coil can be smoothly rolled off to taste. This New Rose weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
