Up for sale, a 2010 Koll Junior Glide Special in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. From 2009 to 2015, the Koll Glide series was built by the Premier Builders Guild workshop in Arroyo Grande, California, under the direction of master builder (and former head of the Gibson Custom Shop) Gene Baker. Premium features include Lollar pickups, the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, and a TonePros AVT wraparound bridge.
Tonally and visually, this Junior Glide is a clear nod to the Les Paul Special (albeit a somewhat offset take on the shape), and the foundation of this Koll is a one-piece lightweight mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with a generous '50s profile carve, and a pair of Lollar P-90 pickups. An extremely expressive and dynamic instrument, this Koll has a fat, clean tone with smooth treble and distinctive midrange bark. Scatterwound and crafted with de-gaussed Alnico 5 bar magnets, these Lollar pickups are exceptionally faithful to a vintage P-90. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, this Junior Glide Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
