Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson RD Standard electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and hardshell case. A reinvention of the RD platform, this "Standard" model boasts a traditional 24 3/4" Gibson scale length, round '50s-style neck profile carve, and Burstbucker Pro PAF humbuckers. The Burstbucker Pros are a slightly hot-rodded version of Gibson's Burstbucker PAF, with unmatched bobbin windings and Alnico V magnets (in place of the usual Alnico II). The sound is fat and meaty, interacting well with high gain amps and providing excellent feedback rejection while having a general tonal profile consistent with the PAF design. Whether you seek warm, silky neck pickup tonalities or bridge pickup sounds that have some push and growl, this RD Standard is a great candidate for covering a wide range of genres. Weighing 8lbs 6oz, we've had this Gibson professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The mahogany neck has Gibson's "50s Rounded" C-shaped neck profile carve with full shoulders in every register and ideal substance, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .985" at the 12th. On the thick slab rosewood fretboard, the slender frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features nickel-plated Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.
The electronics function as intended, with individual Volume and Tone knobs for each of the pickups, coupled to a three-way pickup selector toggle. The Burstbuckers retain their PAF decals, with additional dated stickers from the third quarter of 2010. The chrome-plated hardware is bright and clean, including the pickup covers, Nashville bridge, and corresponding stopbar. Plastics include the pickguard and rear control cavity cover, which still has its protective factory plastic, indicative of how little this guitar has been played since new. Cosmetic wear on the Ebony nitro lacquer gloss finish is limited to some light scuffs and minor nicks on the back and lower bout body edge, with just a couple pinhead-sized marks on top and minor pick wear across the strum path. The gloss finish on the profile is nigh flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case and hangtags are included.
