Up for sale, a 2008 Ibanez Prestige model RG2550Z in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A first year example of the RG2550Z model, this Japanese-made Ibanez Prestige sports a gloss sparkle Galaxy White finish, trio of special design Dimarzio IBZ pickups, and an Edge-Zero tremolo system.
A triple pickup HSH affair with a five-way blade pickup selector, both the humbuckers featured on the RG2550Z are high-output models. The neck pickup is fairly bright-sounding, similar to a Super 2 (DP104). The bridge pickup has additional volume and warmth, resembling a cross between the Steve Morse Bridge Model (DP200) and the Super Distortion (DP100). The centrally located R1 single coil is warmer-sounding than a typical vintage single coil, designed to work well with the humbuckers when coil-tapped (positions 2-4 on the switch). The guitar weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action and spot-on intonation.
The maple and walnut five-piece neck has Ibanez's revered Wizard shape, which is notably slender and fast-feeling, measuring .730” deep at the 1st fret and .825” at the 12th. The thick slab 24 fret rosewood fretboard features wedge sharktooth inlay and jumbo fretwire. The frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing no wear and playing effortlessly up the arrow straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The guitar boasts a full 25 1/2" scale length and 43mm nut width (just fractionally wider than 1 11/16"). The headstock has original cosmo black Gotoh tuners and a Top Lok locking nut that ensures optimal tuning stability even with heavy vibrato use. On the back of the headstock, the Allen wrench holder is present, along with the Team J Craft logo and serial number.
The body has a simple and sleek control layout, with a five-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Edge-Zero bridge with ZPS3 Zero Point System was designed by Ibanez to give the player the fast vibrato response and snap needed to pull off sharp bends and flutters. The extreme stability of this knife-edge-style trem's stud lock function is also one of the many reasons it's a favorite among many of today's top players. The cosmo black hardware is remarkably clean, showing only a hint of patina on the tops of the knurled knobs and tremolo fine tuners.
The Galaxy White finish has a bit of minor scuffing on the treble side lower bout on the back and also on the lower bout rim, with one tiny finish chip in this area as well. The satin finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth save for one tiny nick on the bass-side shoulder behind fret 6 that doesn't affect playability in the slightest.
The original hardshell case is included, along with a couple pieces of factory paperwork.
