Up for sale, a 2008 Gibson Custom Shop Historic VOS ‘61 Les Paul SG Standard in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, and hangtags. With a Heritage Cherry VOS nitro lacquer finish and nickel-plated hardware, this Les Paul faithfully recreates the guitar that would go on to become the famed SG Standard, following Les Paul’s decision to pull his endorsement.

Appointments include cellulose trapezoid fingerboard inlays, a long tenon neck joint, a SlimTaper '60s neck profile carve, and Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with greened keystone buttons. The pickups have been swapped with a set of Seymour Duncan-signed Antiquity PAF humbuckers, an incredibly faithful recreation of Seth Lover’s original humbucker design. Wound on a vintage Leesona 102 winding machine taken straight from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI, features of the Antiquity include butyrate bobbins made by the same factory that built the original PAF mold for Gibson and proprietary 42AWG plain enamel mag-wire. Additionally, Duncan aged the Alnico II bar magnets used for the pickups, resulting in a notably balanced pickup with the exquisite clarity, sweet highs and barking, spongy lows of the best PAFs. Weighing 7lbs 2oz, this Custom Shop Historic Les Paul SG Standard has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The Cherry VOS nitro lacquer finish is fractionally more muted than a high gloss, presenting similarly to a genuine vintage example. Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple minor dings along the lower bout perimeter and a few finish scratches on the back. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original Gibson Custom hardshell case is included, along with the CoA and hangtags.
