Up for sale, a 2008 Gibson Custom Shop Historic ‘64 SG Standard in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, and hangtags. While spec’d as a “Les Paul SG” on the COA, the specs of this Custom Shop model are closely aligned with 1963-64, featuring an Aged Cherry VOS nitro lacquer finish, nylon saddles, long frame Maestro Vibrola, a chunky C-shaped neck profile, and Burstbucker PAF humbuckers.
Other appointments include cellulose trapezoid fingerboard inlays, single-ply binding along the fingerboard, long tenon neck joint, rosewood fingerboard, Kluson Deluxe machine heads, accurate fingerboard binding color, and Burstbucker #1 and #2 PAF humbuckers. The mahogany construction yields a warm, resonant sound with a natural lower-midrange bark, and the Burstbucker #1 and #2 PAF humbuckers feature Alnico II magnets and deliver an array of traditional Gibson tonalities, with a dynamic and harmonically-rich bridge pickup that’s been wax-potted for optimal feedback rejection. The neck pickup has great bark and woody cut.
