Up for sale, a 2008 Edwards by ESP E-K-130VP in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with hangtags. Produced in Japan by ESP under the Edwards banner, this uncommon, sleek instrument is a signature guitar for Kaoru, the leader of popular Japanese alt-metal band DIR EN GREY, featuring an aggressive offset SG-style body shape, a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and a gloss Black finish accented by a subtle “Japanese Zombie Heroez” graphic on top, a phrase written on Kaoru’s guitar in the earlier days of the band.

The carved and contoured body is made from ash (top) and mahogany, offering more natural treble detail and punch than most SGs, and the three-piece hard maple set neck has a contoured heel for unparalleled access to the upper registers of the 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. The Seymour Duncan pickups are the classic combination of an SH-1 PAF at the neck and an SH-4 JB at the bridge: the SH-1 PAF neck pickup was designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with sweet sustain, tight lows, and just enough midrange to deliver full-sounding chords while retaining clarity and articulation. The SH-4 JB bridge pickup is Duncan’s original hot-rodded humbucker, with powerful low end, crisp highs, and a slight midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords and translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing melodic lines. This Edwards E-K-130VP weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The “Japan Zombie Heroez” graphic is largely only visible under close inspection or from certain angles, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to just a few faint marks on the body. The original ESP gigbag is included, along with the serialized hangtags.
