First introduced in 1968 as a special-order top-of-the-line model and famously showcased on the Smothers Brothers Show, the D55 was so well-received that Guild added it to their regular production line by 1974. Crafted in the USA during a brief window after Guild's acquisition by Fender, this D55 was made in Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma guitar factory.

Tonewoods include a spruce top paired with solid rosewood back and sides, and the mahogany neck is capped with an ebony fingerboard. Yielding tons of projection and power, there's a booming kick in the bass register and a high volume ceiling ideal for Bluegrass picking. The midrange is layered and detailed with a sweetness and subtle growl, while the treble strings are punchy and sparkling. Weighing 5lbs 8oz, this D55 has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-54 bronze strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has a full-feeling C-shaped carve with round, but not particularly overt, shoulders, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 9th. The multi-ply bound ebony fretboard has pearl block inlays intersected with abalone Vs, and the medium jumbo fretwire retains its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-6. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 5/8" scale with 14 frets clear of the body, and the nut measures fractionally over 1 11/16" in width (1.725"). On the headstock, the gold Grover tuning machines turn smoothly, and the Guild logo and shield are expertly inlaid.

On the body, a Fishman undersaddle pickup system has been installed, complete with endpin jack. The solid ebony bridge sits flush with the top and the compensated drop-in saddle has plenty of height. Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple tiny chips in the clear coat on the back binding on the lower bout, and a tiny sliver of finish loss on the edges of the bridge where it was professionally reseated. There are also a few light finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole consistent with careful use. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original Guild-branded hardshell case is included.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/4437/4714/files/medium_12f0574c-a5dd-4853-9d6d-12030f31cb4d.jpg?v=1751568784
https://mmguitarbar.com/products/2007-guild-d-55-dreadnought-acoustic-guitar-near-mint-w-case-tacoma-made
