This “Crafted in Japan”-era model displays the quality fit and finish that makes Fender Japan-produced guitars so desired by players and collectors alike.Featuring a sen ash body and one-piece maple neck, this Tele has a bright, resonant acoustic profile which is translated faithfully through the black bobbin vintage-spec pickups. Featuring a Broadcaster-style flat pole alnico magnet bridge pickup, the guitar delivers plenty of chewy sparkle and twang; spanky at the bridge, sweeter and fuller at the neck. Weighing 8lbs 5oz, this Telecaster has been professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.The one-piece maple neck has a chunky C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870” deep at the 1st fret and .955” at the 12th. The maple fretboard features a vintage-spec 7 1\/4” fretboard radius and original slender fretwire. The frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, with fainter wear extending to fret 6. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1\/2” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42mm in width (1.650”). On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and S-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.All of the electronics work as intended, with the American Vintage ‘52 Tele pickups wired to the three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls with dome-topped, knurled knobs. The chrome hardware still has plenty of shine with a light speckling of patina, and the bridge is complete with its trio of steel barrel saddles. Plastics include a replaced (Japan spec) three-ply black pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing.The Butterscotch gloss finish highlights the grain of the ash body, and cosmetic wear includes just a few extremely faint finish scratches and tiny nicks on the back of the body, and one very faint, small spot of buckle wear at the bass-side waist. There is a tiny finish chip at the rear strap button mounting hole, and a small spot of cloudiness in the finish just north of the rear button.
