Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Telecaster '52 vintage reissue model TL52-78US in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. Built for the Japanese domestic market and discontinued long ago, the TL52-78US Telecaster offered stiff competition for Fender's American Vintage series instruments.
Traditional tonewoods include an ash body and one-piece maple neck, and the guitar has a rich natural acoustic quality with the glassy snap of the maple fretboard and the midrange heft and authority of the ash body. A pair of factory-installed Fender USA '52 Telecaster pickups deliver on the promise of a classic Tele tonal palette with a fat and throaty neck position, and a bridge pickup that dishes out chewy, snappy sparkle and twang. Weighing 7lbs 6oz, we've had this Tele professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and round shoulders in every register, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .925” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, black dot inlay, and stock slender fretwire that shows virtually no wear. The guitar plays cleanly in every register, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The neck has Fender's traditional 25 1/2" scale length, and the nut measures 42.5mm (1.675") in width. The headstock sports a set of original Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and S-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, with the USA-made Fender black bobbin pickup pair wired to the stock harness. The vintage-style bridge retains the original trio of steel saddles, and the chrome plating on the control plate and domed knurled knobs is notably clean. The body is accented by a one-ply matte black pickguard, just like a genuine example from '52, and there is a subtle pattern on the pickguard from when the original protective factory film was removed many years after production.
The transparent Butterscotch gloss finish highlights the broad grain of the ash body, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a few scattered tiny nicks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the original serialized and dated hangtag, manual, and warranty card.
