Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Competition Mustang Bass '69 vintage reissue model MB98-85CO in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this “Crafted in Japan” Mustang is a faithful and discontinued reissue of the classic short scale Fender model, boasting a factory-installed USA-made Seymour Duncan pickup.
Weighing 7lbs 14oz, tonewoods include an alder body and a maple neck capped by a thick slab rosewood fretboard. There's a certain pluck and punch unique to this bass that's particularly appealing and sits well in a mix, with enough thump to fill out the low end nicely. It’s a bit more focused than a Precision Bass, offering good midrange heft and aggression. This Competition Mustang Bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Candy Apple Red finish is abbreviated "OCR" in the Fender Japan catalog for Old Candy Apple Red, a darker and more vintage-accurate shade of this classic Fender custom color. Extremely clean, there are just a few minor marks on the body and limited buckle worming on the back of the bass-side body horn. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A padded gigbag is included.
