Up for sale, a 2006 Fender American Vintage ‘70s Stratocaster in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and every hangtag and piece of case candy. A unique (and early) example of the American Vintage ‘70s platform custom ordered by Fender’s Japanese distributor, Yamano, this iteration can be identified by the Z4-prefix serial on the headstock. With a serial typically noting 2004 production, this run presumably spanned 2004-2006 given the spread of date codes on the components and body/neck.

Tonewoods include an ash body and a one-piece maple neck, and this American Vintage ‘70s Strat weighs 7lbs 13oz. The trio of American Vintage pickups includes gray bobbin single coils in the bridge and neck positions, initialed and dated by Fender’s “Queen of Tone,” Abby Ybarra. These pickups have a bell-like chime, sparkling trebles and sweet midrange cut. The middle position black bobbin pickup is RWRP, offering exquisite quack in positions 2 and 4 on the five-way switch. This American Vintage ‘70s Stratocaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
