Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Master Design Yuriy Shiskov Telecaster in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original G&G hardshell case, CoA/hangtags, and case candy. A short-lived line, the Master Builder series from the Custom Shop offered an instrument with a unique feature set from one of Fender’s finest, in this case Master Builder Yuriy Shiskov.
This particular Telecaster was built for the NAMM show in 2005, and while the included paperwork specs this model as a ‘63 reissue (ostensibly for the staggered/beveled poles on the bridge pickup and more slender neck carve), this Custom Shop Tele largely references an early ‘50s “Blackguard,” featuring a lightweight ash body with a relic’d gloss Blonde lacquer finish and a AA flame maple neck, not to mention the single-ply aged bakelite-style pickguard.
Topped off with a Bigsby B5F vibrato, this Telecaster is notably resonant acoustically, with the midrange kick and detail inherent to ash as a tonewood, providing an ideal platform for the Twisted Tele single coil pickups. Each pickup in the Twisted Tele set is tailored to its position, uniquely wound to achieve its individual sonic character, and both pickups feature Alnico V magnet construction. The neck pickup's taller bobbin is designed to accommodate more windings, combined with a slightly shorter bridge pickup bobbin for dark full-bodied midrange. The original G&G black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the CoA/hangtags and case candy. The CoA is signed by Yuriy Shiskov and dated 09/19/05.
