Up for sale, a Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster NOS Partscaster in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case, COA, and hangtags. This Stratocaster features all Fender Custom Shop componentry, comprising a fully loaded body from 2005 with gold hardware and untouched solder on the electronics, paired with a 2009 Custom Shop Stratocaster neck with a substantial V profile carve.
Evoking Hank Marvin's famous Stratocaster, this Custom Shop model features a Fiesta Red gloss nitro lacquer finish and a one-piece heavily figured birdseye maple neck. The alder body has a balanced, articulate natural acoustic profile, and the 57/62 pickups featuring black fiber flatwork, push-back cloth-covered leads, and staggered alnico magnets. These single coils have plenty of sparkle, midrange cut and thick, neck pickup heft with bell-like chime via the five-way pickup selector switch. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, this Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and slinky action.
The one-piece maple neck has a substantial-feeling V-shaped profile carve, not overly pronounced in its V-ness, with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .885” deep at the 1st fret and 1.010” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the slender fretwire is practically perfect, with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuners function as intended, and all factory decals are intact including the Fender Stratocaster waterslide on the face and Custom Shop chevron on the back. The neck heel retains its Relic stamp and additional factory markings, date stamped July 28th, 2009.
The electronics are original to the body, with untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to the 47th week of '04. The all-original gold hardware is positively gleaming, and plastics include a one-ply parchment pickguard and bright white pickup covers and knobs.
The gloss Fiesta Red nitro lacquer finish is quantified as "NOS" by the Custom Shop, presenting as-new with no artificial wear. There is one pinhead-sized ding on top at the bass-side waist and one slightly larger ding on the body edge where the forearm crosses the top. Beyond that, there are just a few faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless, highlighting the dense birdseye figuring extending the length of the neck and across the headstock.
The original G&G Deluxe tweed hardshell case is included, along with the COA matching the R-prefix serial number on the neck plate, case candy and a couple of hangtags.
