This “Crafted in Japan” Mustang is one of the less common instruments from the limited edition Antigua lineup, boasting the premium fit and finish work for which Fender Japan is known.\n\nThere's plenty to love about this Mustang, from the lightweight and resonant body to the pair of stock single coil pickups that deliver plenty of snap and twang. The crisp, clear voice of the instrument when strummed acoustically translates well through the pickups. Of course one of the most fun sounds on the Mustang is the out-of-phase setting, engaged when both on\/off\/on pickup selector switches are at their innermost or outermost points. The quack and spank of that particular setting is unique to the Mustang, and there's plenty of tonal range between the two pickups, with meatier sounds when the neck pickup is soloed and more aggressive cut at the bridge. Weighing 7lbs 4oz, this Mustang has been professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.\n\nThe maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut with lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining more heft and roundness in the upper registers, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1\/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly in all registers up the 24\" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 9\/16” in width, and on the headstock, the stock Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt F neck plate.\n\nAll of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by on\/off\/on switches and Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, and the vibrato unit is complete with its original black tipped arm, actuating smoothly and working in concert with the bridge's barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the original knobs and Antigua-finished pickguard.\n\nThis is an exceedingly well-kept Mustang, with barely a mark on the custom color Antigua gloss finish.
