Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Aerodyne Stratocaster HSS in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Fender-branded gigbag. An extremely rare Aerodyne iteration crafted in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Stratocaster features a Dolphin Grey custom color finish with matching peghead, an unusual (for an Aerodyne) maple fingerboard, and a genuine Floyd Rose tremolo. The basswood body offers a neutral, balanced tonal profile, especially favored for high gain scenarios, and the bridge position humbucker is clear and powerful, equal parts punchy and cutting. The neck and middle position single coils offer more traditional Strat sparkle and chime, with a broad tonal palette accessible via the five-way pickup selector switch. The guitar weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius and stock jumbo fretwire with virtually zero wear. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2”, and the locking nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The matching Dolphin Grey headstock features chrome Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well in conjunction with the locking nut. The contoured neck heel ensures easy access to the highest registers of the fretboard, and the "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial are present just above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, with Master Volume and Tone knobs and a five-way pickup selector switch governing the HSS pickup array. All of the original plastic parts are intact, and the chrome hardware has plenty of shine with just a hint of surface patina. The guitar features a Floyd Rose Special vibrato, engineered for the broadest expressive gestures and deepest divebombs all with unparalleled tuning stability. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Dolphin Grey finish is limited scuffing in the pick path and minor marks relegated to the edge of the vibrato cavity, bass side of the top, and body parameter. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
