Up for sale, a 2003 Fender Custom Shop 1960 Telecaster Custom NOS in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, and hangtags. This Custom Shop Time Machine Series Telecaster is an early example of a model first offered in ‘02, made when Custom Shop production totals were a fraction of current output. Representing a faithful recreation of the very first year of Telecaster Custom production, features include a pair of hand-wound Custom ‘60s Tele single coil pickups and a Candy Apple Red NOS nitro lacquer finish, framed on both sides by cream binding.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and tight-grained slab rosewood fingerboard, and this 1960 Tele Custom weighs 7lbs 10oz. The hand-wound Custom ‘60s single coils are wound to vintage spec, featuring black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads, and these pickups deliver a bevy of quintessential Tele tonalities, chock-full of snap and sparkle: the bridge yields a punctuated twang, and the neck pickup has a smooth breadth and gutsy chop, retaining excellent articulation. This 1960 Telecaster Custom has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation (string gauge and setup can be adjusted to player preference at no additional charge).

The NOS Candy Apple Red nitro lacquer finish is pitch perfect in its dark, rich application, and cosmetic wear includes light forearm wear on the bass-side lower bout, light buckle rash on the bass-side of the back, and some minor dings on the body as a whole, largely limited to the lower bout. The smooth ambered nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original G&G brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags and CoA (dated 09/10/03). This Telecaster was originally offered in the Japanese domestic market, and as such features unique Fender/Yamano paperwork, reflecting Fender’s Japanese distributor.
