Up for sale, a 2002 Martin Vintage Series 000-28EC Eric Clapton signature model in near-mint condition, upgraded with an L.R. Baggs Anthem SL pickup assembly, and complete with the original hardshell case. Martin’s most enduringly popular artist model, the 000-28EC is a carefully crafted tribute to the genuine Pre-War example used by Clapton in his landmark MTV Unplugged performance, boasting all solid tonewoods, herringbone purfling, and abalone snowflake inlays on the ebony fingerboard.

This 000-28EC features an X-braced Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck with Martin's Modified V profile carve, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge, offering an ideal blend of warmth, nuance, and definition. This is a notably lively example, with an immediate, blooming chime; the bass register is taut and clear, while the plain strings have a round, singing quality with plenty of treble sparkle. The midrange character is sweet and articulate, ideal for fingerpicking applications, with an overall even-tempered tonal profile and exceptional string-to-string balance.

The L.R. Baggs Anthem SL features a hybrid of Baggs’ proprietary TRU-MIC technology with an Element piezo pickup. The TRU-MIC comprises a microphone mounted 3mm away from the surface of the bridge plate: this unique mounting system frees up the mic, enabling it to perform as though it were outside the guitar while maintaining great feedback suppression. As such, it’s incredibly faithful to the natural tone of the instrument while offering more onstage flexibility than a traditional mic’d setup. Weighing 4lbs 10oz, this Martin 000-28EC has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
