Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Limited Edition ‘72 Telecaster model TL72-65 V3 Snake Print in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Sparingly little information is available on this extremely rare “Crafted in Japan” Telecaster, with few known to exist both inside and outside of Japan, featuring a non-catalog Snake Print (snakeskin) finish on the top, back and pickguard.
Tonewoods include a basswood body and a one-piece maple neck, and this TL72-65 V3 weighs 8lbs 1oz. The pair of single coil pickups deliver classic Tele snap and sparkle, with gutsy twang at the bridge and smooth, bell-like cut at the neck. This TL72-65 V3 Snake Print has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium U, measuring .865” 1st fret, .960” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, 7 ¼” vintage-spec radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Gotoh
-Serialization: “Crafted in Japan” script, P-prefix
-Factory Markings: Model stamps on neck heel/pocket
Body Specs:
-Wood: Basswood
-Pickups: TL-Vintage single coil x2
-Controls: Volume, Tone, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: “Pat. Pend” bridge with steel barrel saddles, flat-top knurled knobs
-Plastics: One-ply Snake Print pickguard, “top hat” switch tip
The gloss Snake Print finish has a lightly textured feel, and there are just a couple tiny nicks along the body perimeter. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless save for a single shallow nick on the bass-side shoulder at the 11th fret.
A modern Fender gigbag is included.
