Up for sale, a 2001 Fender American Vintage ‘62 Precision Bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a tweed Fender hardshell case. With almost a quarter century under its belt, this Precision Bass has the looks and tonal response of the genuine vintage article, with a nitro lacquer finish that has faded to nearly a two-tone Sunburst on top, while the alder body and slab rosewood fretboard offer a resonant natural acoustic response with smooth sustain. Vintage-accurate touches including a black bobbin split-coil pickup with cloth-covered leads, long stem reverse-action tuners, threaded saddles, period correct “tug bar” finger rest, and a gloss nitro lacquer finish.
The pickup yields thick thump, with detailed, rumbling lows balanced by treble sweetness and growl. The signal also gets particularly broad and meaty with the Tone knob rolled back to taste. This American Vintage ‘62 Precision Bass weighs 9lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish has a very subtle central red band on top, with a hair more red retained in the burst on the back. There is limited wear through the nitro gloss at the arm and belly contours, buckle rash central to the back, and some minor dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and perimeter. The smooth ambered nitro gloss on the neck profile highlights subtle tight tiger flame figuring in the maple, with a couple tiny marks along the profile length that are undetectable to the palm while fretting.
An era-correct Fender-branded tweed hardshell case is included.
