Up for sale, a 2000 Larrivée J-03 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and owner’s manual. Finely crafted in Vancouver, British Columbia, this Jumbo features Larrivée’s proprietary parallel X-bracing on the Sitka spruce top, paired with mahogany back and sides, augmented with a D-TAR Wavelength multi-source pickup/mic system.
With a full 17” lower bout width, this Larrivée Jumbo is a big, bold powerhouse, with notably full, warm lows that are potent without being overly boomy. There’s a smooth, percussive cut to the plain strings, with an ideal balance of jangle and punch, making this Larrivée an ideal strummer with ringing sustain. The D-TAR Wavelength system pairs a soundhole condenser microphone with a piezo undersaddle pickup: there are a wide range of tones on tap via the combination of the two transducers, with warm brassiness via the piezo and articulate sounds from the microphone that faithfully capture the natural tone of the guitar. The independent Mic and Master controls enable precise blending of the two elements.
