Up for sale, a 1999 Gibson Les Paul Standard in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

Weighing 9lbs 12oz, this Les Paul has a lively and round-sounding natural acoustic quality that sustains well and offers both articulation and warmth, qualities consistent with the carved maple cap and solid mahogany body tonewood construction. The stock humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the 490R neck pickup featuring Alnico II magnets and a more vintage-spec, PAF-style sonic range, while the Alnico V magnet 498T bridge pickup is overwound for extra power and authority. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is dialed in with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and solid intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender '60s-style C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and more heft and roundness in the higher registers, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a dark cut of this particular tonewood, featuring pearl trapezoid inlay and stock frets which retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width, and the scale length measures 24 3/4". The headstock face retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and the original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, a fairly uncommon feature.

All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and "Gibson USA"-embossed baseplates on the 490R and 498T humbucker pair. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all of the original plastic parts are present including the gold speed knobs, cream pickup rings, pickguard, and switch surround. The original Cherry Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish highlights a light speckling of birdseye figuring in the maple on the lower bout on top. Cosmetic wear includes some pinhead-sized nicks across the top, and some light finish scratches and minor marks on the back and body perimeter as well. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss, free of palm wear with some small shallow marks on the profile length that aren't distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the factory checklist and manual with Yamano text on the cover.
