Up for sale, a 1999 Gibson Custom Shop Zakk Wylde signature “Rough Top” Les Paul in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtag, and paperwork. This rare Custom Shop iteration of the Zakk Wylde signature Les Paul is the first ever produced, predating the models recreating his iconic bullseye design, featuring a “rough” maple top carved with a unique ridged design, loaded with a pair of EMG pickups and sporting a Natural satin finish. This Zakk Wylde signature was ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, and Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods hand-picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.
A mahogany body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard round out the tonewoods, and this Les Paul weighs 10lbs 6oz. The EMG pickups include an 81 in the bridge position and an 85 at the neck. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the EMG 81 was designed for optimal note detail, enhanced high end cut, and fluid sustain, engineered so that lead work will slice through even the densest mix. The 85 features Alnico V magnets, and this popular EMG is powerful and versatile, with excellent articulation and harmonic complexity. This Zakk Wylde Les Paul has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
