Up for sale, a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Weighing 10lbs 8oz, this Les Paul has a broad, punchy natural acoustic tone with notable sustain, pairing a carved two-piece maple top with a solid (non-weight relieved) mahogany body. The stock humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the 490R neck pickup featuring Alnico II magnets and a more vintage-spec, PAF-style sonic range, while the Alnico V magnet 498T bridge pickup is overwound for extra power and authority. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is dialed in with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and solid intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with nicely rounded shoulders in every register and more overall chunk from the 7th fret and beyond, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .985" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlay and flawless fretwire that retains its full factory height. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width. The headstock retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and "Gibson USA"-embossed baseplates on the 490R and 498T humbucker pair. The chrome hardware is bright and clean with just a speckling of surface patina, and all of the original plastic parts are present with uniform aging of the pickguard and switch surround, and a few small superficial splits in the gold speed knobs adjacent to the pot shafts (purely cosmetic).

The original Cherry gloss nitro lacquer finish is framed by cream binding, and the bookmatched two-piece carved maple top is extremely clean. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few minor marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh-flawless, with a hint of “stand rash” on the treble side of the carve behind fret 7.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
