This uncommon left-handed Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” was crafted during an increasingly heralded era of Gibson colloquially known as the “good wood” era, boasting the classic tonewood combination of a solid mahogany body, carved two-piece maple top, and an ebony fingerboard. Ordered by Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson’s USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered to be among their absolute best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson’s discerning Japanese audience.
Weighing 10lbs 2oz, this Les Paul has impressive clarity, punch, and midrange presence. The 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup yielding more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup is tailored for gain with plenty of output and roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Custom has been dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
