1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst 100% Original w/ Case & Hangtags, Yamano

Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and manual. 100% original save for an upgraded carved bone nut, this Les Paul was ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano. Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

Weighing 9lbs 8oz, this Les Paul has a lively and round-sounding natural acoustic quality that sustains well and offers both articulation and warmth, qualities consistent with the carved maple cap and solid mahogany body tonewood construction. The stock humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the 490R neck pickup featuring Alnico II magnets and a more vintage-spec, PAF-style sonic range, while the Alnico V magnet 498T bridge pickup is overwound for extra power and authority. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is dialed in with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and solid intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a round medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register and ideal substance, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlay and stock slender frets which have their full factory height, with plenty of meat and well-rounded crowns, showing just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width, upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone for optimal note clarity and sustain. The headstock face retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and Gibson Deluxe bolt-bushing tuners with aged keystone buttons. These tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well, with a tiny amount of chipping in the clear coat adjacent to the tuner bushings.

All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and "Gibson USA"-embossed baseplates on the 490R and 498T humbucker pair. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all of the original plastic parts are present with uniform aging of the pickguard and switch surround, and a few small superficial splits in the gold speed knobs adjacent to the pot shafts (purely cosmetic).

The original Cherry Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish is framed by ambered binding, and the bookmatched two-piece carved maple top is extremely clean. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few very minor marks on the back and body perimeter, and the gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the manual with Yamano text on the cover.
