Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Special Bass LPB-1 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This LPB-1 is a notably late example, likely among the last ever produced (the LPB-1 was not technically part of the ‘97 lineup), featuring all-mahogany construction with an ebony fingerboard, TB Plus humbuckers, active electronics, Grover tuning machines, and a gloss Heritage Cherry nitro lacquer finish.
The mahogany gives this bass plenty of natural midrange warmth and growl, and this LPB-1 weighs 9lbs 14oz. The TB Plus active humbuckers are big and burly, yielding terrific low end power, and the center detent Bass and Treble Boost/Cut EQ knobs enable a great degree of tonal sculpting. This Les Paul Special Bass LPB-1 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Chunky C, measuring .880” 1st fret, 1.010” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, dot inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, light wear on frets 1-7
-Scale Length: 34”
-Nut: 1 11/16”
-Tuners: Grover
-Serialization: Eight-digit stamp dates to ‘97
Body Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany

The gloss Heritage Cherry nitro lacquer finish exhibits buckle rash on the bass side of the back, pick scuffing on top, and some minor marks on the body, largely relegated to the lower bout. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
