Up for sale, a 1997 ESP HRZ-300H/FR Satoshi Hirose Signature Horizon in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This uncommon iteration of the Horizon platform was designed in collaboration with Satoshi Hirose, lead guitarist of Japanese rock band spAed, featuring neck-through construction, a contoured top, 22-fret ebony fingerboard, genuine Floyd Rose tremolo, and an SH pair of Seymour Duncan pickups.

With maple neck-through construction, mahogany body wings, and an ebony fretboard, this Horizon Custom offers plenty of natural sustain and treble cut. The Seymour Duncan pickups include an SSL-1 single coil at the neck and an APH-1 Alnico II Pro humbucker at the bridge. Championed by Slash (including appearances all over Appetite for Destruction), the Alnico II Pro humbucker is articulate and smooth, with warm, spongy lows, sensitive to picking dynamics and well-suited for high gain scenarios. The SSL-1 single coil features staggered hand-ground Alnico V rod magnets, yielding vintage-style single coil tonalities with plenty of sparkle and chime. Both pickups were wound by the venerable “Queen of the SD Custom Shop,” Maricela Juarez, as identified by the “J” on the baseplate sticker. Juarez has wound pickups for artists including Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, George Harrison, and Slash himself, to name just a few. This HRZ-300H/FR weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
