Up for sale, a 1996 Ibanez J. Custom RG1702 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case and outfitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers. This Ibanez was crafted at the Fujigen factory as part of the upscale J. Custom line, featuring a AAAA flame maple top accented by a gloss Silky Black finish.
Tonewoods include a mahogany body, AAAA flame maple top, three-piece maple neck, and slab 24-fret rosewood fretboard, and this RG1702 weighs 7lbs 7oz. The replacement pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers are the classic pairing of an SH-4 JB in the bridge position and an SH-1 ‘59 PAF at the neck. The ‘59 was designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with sweet sustain, tight lows, and just enough midrange to deliver full-sounding chords while retaining clarity and articulation. The JB bridge pickup is Duncan’s original hot-rodded humbucker, with powerful low end, crisp highs, and a slight midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords and translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing melodic lines. This JB was wound by the venerable “Queen of the SD Custom Shop,” Maricela Juarez, as identified by the “J” on the baseplate sticker. Juarez has wound pickups for artists including Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, George Harrison, and Slash, to name just a few. This RG1702 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
