Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson Nighthawk Landmark Series model in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and all hangtags. From Gibson's limited Landmark Series offered from 1996-97, this Nighthawk iteration features a unique two mini humbucker pickup complement exclusive to the Landmark Series, and the Sequoia Red finish is one of five cosmetic options in the series, each commemorating one of the United States' National Parks or Monuments. Ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

The M-Series mini humbuckers were produced for Gibson by Bill Lawrence, and via the three-way pickup selector switch, the Nighthawk offers a vital sound in every pickup position. The neck position has a throaty, powerful sound with a glassy treble spank, while the lead position humbucker has more growl and ripping cut. The Tone control has a push/pull coil tap for the bridge pickup when single coil snap and jangle is required. The guitar weighs a mere 7lbs 3oz, with a slender mahogany body and figured flame maple top. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Gibson is dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with round shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is perfect. The guitar plays easily up the full 25 1/2" scale, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock retains the original gold Gibson Deluxe tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as intended, the gold hardware is gleaming with just a hint of surface patina, and plastics include the original pair of amber bonnet knobs. Cosmetic wear on the gloss nitro lacquer Sequoia Red finish is limited to a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with all of the original hangtags including the Gibson/Yamano manual.
