Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Telecaster Thinline ‘72 vintage reissue model TN72-85 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This Telecaster is a transitional Fender Japan model between the “Made” and “Crafted” eras, produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside of its country of origin.
Boasting a Wide Range humbucker design more tonally faithful to the originals than many other Fender reissues of the era, this guitar is fat and full-sounding while still retaining a distinctive, sweet top end character and percussive cut. The ash body provides a certain midrange punch, and the semi-hollow construction adds warmth and openness to the sound. This Tele weighs 7lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .815” 1st fret, .890” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, 7 1/4“ vintage-spec radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Headstock: Block logo, bullet truss rod nut
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Crafted in Japan,” N-prefix
Body Specs:
-Wood: Ash
-Pickups: Wide Range humbucker x2
-Controls: Volume, Tone, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Six-saddle bridge (block saddles), flat-top knurled knobs
-Plastics: Three-ply white pearloid pickguard, “top hat” switch tip
The gloss Natural finish highlights the extremely tight, uniform grain in the ash body, with some minor dings on the body, primarily concentrated at the lower bout. The gloss on the neck is clean and smooth, with only a few shallow nicks central to the carve behind frets 2-5.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
