Up for sale, a 1993 Fender Stratocaster Custom Edition ‘54 vintage reissue model ST54-85RV in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. The Custom Edition models were a rebranding of the previous top tier Extrad models, and these guitars are true Custom Shop creations, hand-crafted by a small team at the famed Fujigen factory. Extremely rare outside its country of origin and not intended for export, this high-end model features USA-made pickups and a nitro lacquer gloss two-tone Sunburst finish.

Tonewoods include a lightweight ash body and one-piece maple neck with a deep V-shaped profile carve, and this guitar has the natural midrange heft and complexity of ash balanced
by the treble articulation and immediacy of maple. The staggered alnico magnet black bobbin single coils are the same 57/62 pickup set used in the American Vintage models of the era, coupled to a vintage-spec three-way switch. The neck pickup is round and bell-like, while the bridge has a sparkling cut and authority. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a notably deep soft V-shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .885” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4” radius with slender vintage-style fretwire that retains its full factory height and shows virtually no wear. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm (1.675”) in width. The headstock features the correct round string tree for the '54 model year along with a spaghetti logo and Fender Custom Edition badge on the back. The Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. On the neck, the “Made in Japan” text and P-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate, and the neck heel and pocket retain their factory stamps.

On the body, the electronics all work as intended, with the Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups wired to the three-way pickup selector switch and Strat-standard Volume/Tone/Tone controls. The solder joints are untouched, and the full-size pots date to July of 1993. The chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, showing only faint surface patina on the bridge base and saddles. Original plastics are all bright white, and there's just a bit of light pick scuffing on the treble side of the one-ply pickguard. The nitro lacquer gloss two-tone Sunburst finish highlights the broad, dynamic grain of the ash body and the guitar is stunningly clean, showing only a few faint marks in the clear coat of the gloss. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original Fender-branded gigtag is included, along with the original hangtags.
