Up for sale, a 1993 Epiphone Casino in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Produced at the Terada factory in Japan, this is an early Epiphone reissue which preceded the "Elitist" line.
Beyond the usual specifications for this model, this Casino, while unmarked as such, is visually unique from usual Terada Casino production, evoking a “Revolution” look with a more pale Natural finish akin to John Lennon’s Casino, along with the small switch surround. This model also predates the “Casino JL” model which was produced at Terada in subsequent years as another early Revolution iteration.
Acoustically, the fully hollow maple body has a smooth, bright tone with great articulation, faithfully captured by the original P-90 pickups. The pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, and a glassy, percussive quality. Offering a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues, these pickups are sensitive to picking dynamics with an overarching sweetness and sparkling cut, equally suited to detailed cleans and rich overdrive. Lightweight at 6lbs 6oz, this Casino has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple (three-piece)
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .790” 1st fret, .905” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, parallelogram inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, faint wear on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 9/16” bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Pickups: P-90 x2
-Harness: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece, “dogear” pickup covers
-Plastics: Reflector cap knobs, small switch surround
-Serialization: 3-prefix (1993) on orange oval label (bass-side f hole)
The gloss Natural finish highlights subtle birdseye figuring in the maple, and there’s barely a mark on the body. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A hardshell case is included.
