Up for sale, a 1992 Ibanez SV470 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Masterfully crafted at the venerable Fujigen factory in Japan, the SV470 was introduced in ‘92 and discontinued by ‘97. This first year example, finished in Stained Oil, is fitted with all-gold hardware on the remarkably thin (just under 3/4” at the lower bout) mahogany body, paired with a maple Viper neck with a thick slab rosewood fretboard, and outfitted with locking tuners and high-output proprietary Ibanez pickups in a shred-ready HSH complement.

The alnico magnet pickups include a V1 humbucker at the neck, S2 single coil in the middle, and a V2 humbucker at the bridge. The guitar delivers a broad tonal range, from meaty humbucker chunk to focused single coil snap and definition. This Ibanez is featherweight at just 6lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has Ibanez’s custom Viper shape; a slender C-shaped profile carve with robust shoulders and just a hair more heft than a Wizard neck, measuring .790” deep at the 1st fret and .880” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius, with stock medium jumbo frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The original nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the gold “Made in Japan” locking tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

On the body, all of the electronics function as intended, with a five-way blade pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls for the HSH pickup array. All of the original gold-plated hardware is intact, including the gold knurled domed knobs and non-locking TZ-6 tremolo which shows notable surface patina. The satin Stained Oil natural finish exhibits buckle rash across the back and a number of small dings and light scratches on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.

The original gigbag is included.
